Interviewing Janiera Eldridge...

Hiya, babies! Hope you're ready to have a sexy, sassy time with Janiera Eldridge and her rocking Dark Expectations Tour!

Thanks so much for having me on your blog today Cherie!

I'm delighted to have you here, Janiera! Let's get right to the cool interview stuff, okay? And at the end we'll put up the rafflecopter and all the groovy promo stuff. Ready Steady, Go, go, go!

1. Looking back was there something in particular that helped you to decide to become a writer?

When I was in high-school I studied and prepared to go to college to get a business degree. However, during my first semester of college I got a terrible bout of mononucleosis that developed into Fibromyalgia. In-between doctor visits, terrible pain and fatigue I started writing out of therapy and before I knew it, my first book was written. I never went back to school and decided I wanted to writ full time. I hate my illness but it did bring to light what I really wanted to do with my life.

2. Do you write right through or do you revise as you go along?

I have to write all the way through the first round of the manuscript. I’ve heard of writers revising throughout (and their books are usually released faster). However, I have to pour all of my thoughts onto the page without questioning myself. I’m not exactly best friends with edits but, the first edit, is a chance for me to pick things apart and make them better.

3. When it comes to plotting, do you write freely or plan everything in advance?

My stories always write themselves! I never outline or anything like that because I really do enjoy letting the creative juices flow and seeing what comes out next.

4. Does the title of a book you’re writing come to you as you’re writing it, or does it come before you even begin the first sentence?

It’s funny because in the first book of the Soul Sisters Trilogy the title Soul Sisters came to mind before I even started the story. However, in book 2 the title Dark Expectations didn’t come to me until the edits and I was revising everything. It’s like it just hit me in the head one day.

5. Writing is obviously not just how you make your living, but your life-style as well. What do you do to keep the creative "spark" alive - both in your work and out of it?

Writing is totally a way of life. A very, starving artist way of life I might add. To get new ideas I constantly read to get some jolting inspiration. If I hit a mean writing block, I’ll take a day or two off to listen to some music, see a movie or read good book and the creativity will soon come back to me. I don’t believe in writing to fill up pages; I believe in writing when you’re at your creative best.

6. What are you working on now?

I’m working on getting my novella Good Ghost Gone Bad ready for release in February. It’s my first ghost story so I’m really excited about sharing it soon. I’ll also be writing a “fiction” story about a girl with Fibromyalgia. I love experimenting with different genres!
